Happy New Year!!

Saturday, December 27, 2008

I Hope everyone had a great holiday. We had a nice one ourselves. Christmas eve with my family and Christmas day with Jim's. Yesterday and today I have done nothing. It feels good to not stress about shopping and presents. My living room looks like Santa's bag exploded and I am trying to pick up a little here and there. We got the coolest pancake pan...check it out.....

Emily's favorite food is now the cutest food!!

What are you traditions?

Stockings or gifts first?

Anything specific that needs to be in the stocking?

Merry Christmas Bloggers!!

This time of year has made me a bit batty!!

But I am done shopping and don't even have to make a run to the grocery store. I am in for the night and don't have to leave until tomorrow as I head to my Mom's. I still have a few presents to wrap and some Santa stuff to do. But I have piles a gifts separated for the various places we will be heading to over the next few days. We've had a ton of snow and it looks beautiful outside. It looks like a perfect Christmas!

I want to wish you all a WONDERFUL Holiday!! I hope Santa is extra good to you all!!!
Enjoy your families this year!!!

Cable guy

This morning the schools had a 2 hr delay, which means Emily had school at 10am. I was also expecting a service tech from our Satellite TV provider. He was scheduled to be here between 8am & Noon. I hate waiting and I hate having to leave during my window-what if he comes when I leave. I live in a small town so I can get to her school and back in like 15 mins. The Tech called at 9am and said he was on his way and should be there for 9:30am. At 9:45am I had to leave, I decided to check the caller id and call him and tell him I was leaving the house and he could wait for me.....and that I would be home between 10am and 10:15am. He said OK. Ahhh freedom. I always feel like I can't do what I want when we schedule a service call, and this company takes 2 wks to get someone out here. He was nice and fixed the original tech's mistake and I now can use my DVR to it full potential, making my husband very happy. We can tape a show and watch another. No more fights or lonely nights in separate rooms watching our favorite shows. Now this is where things got weird...I made coffee and offered him some. He accepted and we started chatting while drinking our coffee. My husband called to check on me and I told him I was having coffee with the cable guy....he asked me if I was going to hug him when he left....I said no silly we just met.

It has been a crazy week.

Thank you all for your kind words.

Emily and I took a trip to Natick, MA to visit my Sister-in-law and visit the new American Girl Doll store. Emily had so much fun and wanted to buy everything. We couldn't eat lunch at the store, my Sister-in-law and I are still trying to figure out that one-they said they were booked all day with reservations and weren't taking walk ins and there were tables EMPTY????? We had lunch at Cheesecake Factory instead and headed back to the American Doll Store for dessert which we finally got a table-because the employees were so confused they just let us sit for dessert...YAY us!!! Here are a few pics, it was so cute, Em brought her Bitty Baby Lucy (short for Lucifer-LOL a story for another day) and she was able to sit at the table with us in her own booster and got her own menu and the man brought over her menu and actually said as he put it in front of the doll...... "here you go miss" it was so cool!!!!

Sad day today........

I just received some bad news. My Aunt Nancy aka Sass passed away. She was also Chele's aunt. (Chele's dad and my Mom are brother and Sister- Sass was their Sister) Sass had diabetes and has been in and out of the hospital for years. She also had kidney disease because of the diabetes and has been working on getting on a transplant list for years. The diabetes made this a difficult journey always pulling her two steps back. She recently found out she most likely would not be put on the list because of her heart, blockages that couldn't be cleared. She has had several heart attacks and was just hospitalized a few weeks back for one. Last week she was admitted again to the hospital due to some more blockages. This morning she went into cardiac arrest and passed away. We just celebrated her 50th birthday this summer. We are all in shock. We knew she was really ill but she always got well enough to leave the hospital.

We'll miss ya Sass....Here is a pic of here with Chele. This is the only one I could find . This was the Christmas of 2006. Just a few months later our Grandmother passed away. I know that Sass and her Mom are together now.

just cuz

Yesterday, when I posted about wrapping presents. It was because I was wrapping all alone while Em & Jim did whatever. Its kinda funny (well not that funny) it is the women who wrap the presents and even those of us who would like some help would probably kick them out after the first fold. Do you think they just can't wrap or do they do it messy on purpose so we do it all. Ya know when the guys complain (especially to us sahm) how hard their lives are- do they think of these times where Christmas in our house wouldn't happen if it weren't for me. Or the laundry, my hubby will complain when he does dishes but do I ever say when is the last time you did some towels or washed Emily's clothes? He does do his own laundry. I am thankful for that. But seriously mom's/wives rule!!! LOL I do love my husband, especially today he started a new job and it happy!! yay me!

Who wraps the presents in your house??

I think (at least for me) that wrapping presents should have been part of our wedding ceremony "I promise to wrap all the presents" because I can't remember the last time Jim wrapped a present. So today I am wrapping whatever I have purchased so I am not wrapping a gazillion things right before Christmas. Ya know now that I am complaining a bit, I decorate too. We used to decorate together but now it me and the kid...... Hmmmm a feel a new tradition coming.

Emily had both of her parties, she had so much fun. It was nice to have it at our house for a change. She also had her first kid birthday party and it was a smash! She had so much fun. I am so glad the Heather & Keri and their children were able to come. I hope they had fun.
Here she is officially 4yrs old.

And the cake, I decided to make it this year. She was just as happy to have pink frosting and pastel sprinkles.

On the health front. Em is still fighting the cold. Of course this week was so busy...she'd get a bit better and then she'd have some fun and the cold starts creeping back in. I am doing ok, I just have this weird throat thing, feels swollen more than sore. So annoying but I am surviving.

Saving the best for last. We had our first snowfall to stay. We've had MANY flurries, but last night there was a nice covering of snow. When Emily woke up I showed her and she said "It's Christmas!" with a big grin. Its been snowing on and off all morning its pretty. I love this time of year and its nice to see the snow in my yard and not just in my driveway

Emily had her check up today.
The vaccinations had to be post poned because she woke up with a 103.3 fever last night.
Learned today that she has enlarged adenoids (thanks Daddy's family) but because they aren't a problem for her, they can stay.
Also she failed her hearing test in her left ear because of wax build up (again thanks daddy's family) she had so much build up she failed. I couldn't believe it. Once it was irrigated, she passed no problem. She has always had issues with wax since she was a baby. Poor thing. Now I have to irrigate daily. Hmmmm is that why she doesn't listen, if it were that simple.
Two weeks and we have to go back for vaccinations and flu shot.
I woke up with a scratchy throat.
Tried to get Em to take a nap and took one myself.
Woke up with a HUGE sore throat.
Fun is.

SUMMIT ENTERTAINMENT ANNOUNCES TWILIGHT SEQUEL - NEW MOON

Los Angeles, CA November 22, 2008 — Summit Entertainment announced today that the studio is officially moving forward with the production of NEW MOON, the second installment of its filmed franchise TWILIGHT, the action-packed, modern day vampire love story. Happy Turkey Day!!

I hope everyone has a wonderful day tomorrow and doesn't eat too much!!
This time of year reminds me so much of high school and going to the Thanksgiving day game-which we always won!!- I drove through the town I grew up in the other day and drove by the field we played at and felt the need to go to the game. Maybe someday? Chele and Keri interested?? Maybe when the kids get a bit older? Whatever it is you do on Turkey day or even if you don't do anything.
Have a great day!

Christmas is coming!!

I started putting up our Christmas tree the day after Thanksgiving when Emily turned one. It has become our own tradition. This year Emily's birthday falls on the Sunday after Thanksgiving and I thought trying to put up the tree and getting ready for her party would be too hectic. So with an ok from two friends, I put it up the Saturday before Thanksgiving. Em had a blast, it was fun to see her do the same things I do. All of my ornaments mean something to me, my tree is very eclectic. When I had my wedding shower my Mother and bridesmaids had everyone bring an ornament for us. One from their own collection. So not only do I have ornaments I picked out for specific reasons. I have ornaments that remind me of everyone I know. Also every yr we buy an ornament at the big e. There is this one vendor that has ornaments and they personalize it. Jim and I bought one our first Christmas in the condo-2 bears holding Hershey kisses and it has the yr and our names on it. This yr we got two ornaments a pretty ballerina for Emily starting dance this yr and a fireplace with stockings with all of our names on it for our first Christmas in this house. I love to open all my ornaments and remember. We also have more room so I put up my little tree too. So cute. Emily wants a Princess tree for her bedroom, we'll have to wait and see on that one. Well here they are guys some tree pics.
Here is my tree, my topper is a bit crooked :) The flash is so bright you can't see the lights. Emily decided on the colored lights I prefer the white lights.
Here is my tree minus the flash so you can see the lights :) I also bought some lighted garland last yr for like 70 cents a peice on clearance last yr. It looks cute.
Here is my little 3ft tree. I totally forgot I had these little ornaments. I put it next to our fireplace in the Living room.
And here is a picture of Emily in her Christmas dress. We did a little photo shoot to get a picture for our Christmas card. She actually had fun doing it this yr. Usually I have to keep snapping my camera hoping she smiles or sits still for a minute, but this yr she is all about posing!!! We got a few good shots.

Happy Holidays everyone!! I am considering decorating my blog for Christmas, hmmm can I find the time.....

Crazy Saturday

So last Saturday(11/15) was a very rainy day. My house was clean so I decided to ,finally, sit down and finish Twilight. I got my chair all comfy with a quilt and grabbed myself a nice hot cup of coffee. See this picture doesn't look like comfy.
Here is my book and coffee waiting for me. Em is upstairs playing. I am so ready to just read.
About 20 minutes later I hear a crash!!! It sounded like a dresser or bookshelf fell over. I called out Emily's name and ran to see what it was. I didn't hear her respond and I didn't hear her crying. The only thing I could imagine is she was reaching for something and it fell. I was screaming and running to get to her. I get to the spare room/playroom/Emily's second bedroom (which she named it lol) and she is like "mommy I'm ok, whats wrong". Hmmm I am now wondering what the heck happened. When I was headed up to see Emily I also saw one of my cats run for cover under my bed-he was still there so I knew something happened! Emily and I walked around the house and looked in each room and saw nothing. I then checked each closet thinking a shelf fell. Nothing!! The house seemed completely fine. I am totally confused and decide to go back to reading. I can't read because I know something happened. So I get up and look out my french doors in the family room. While looking outside I see some small branches in the middle of my yard. I knew the lawn was just mowed so where did they come from? I look from side to side and see nothing. Then I was like wait a minute....I looked to the left again and saw it. A tree fell onto our shed and deck. I freaked because I couldn't see if it landed on the house too. I ran up stairs to the dining room and looked out the sliders and saw this.

Its hard to show you how crazy it is from the pictures, when you look out the sliders all you can see is the top of a very huge tree and it tippity tops of the tree is like 5 inches from my slider door. I went outside to investigate and took more pics and saw that the house wasn't hit at all. But the poor shed holy cow. Smashed!! Check it out!!

After trying to reach my Hubby and Father in law and lots of pictures. Trying to stop Em from crying (she thought we were stuck in the house forever). I did get my book and enjoyed the rest of that crazy Saturday!

After the week I had with food I will take that!! I already logged my breakfast and am ready to log all my pts this week. Hopefully next week will be a better loss.

Reviews

After the past few days, you are all aware that I am a HUGE Twilight fan (addict). I am anxious to see the movie. My husband and I will see it ,probably, Tues night. I've read some of the reviews that people have written who have already seen it. People who never read the books seem to like it. Fans of the books have been writing bad reviews. Now we all know that movies are rarely as good as the books. I never thought I would go and see the movie and love it as much as the books. I am glad, however, that I did read the books first so I was able to completely get lost in the story. The way I look at it is....the movie is just a companion to the books. Another way for us to get more of Edward and Bella. I hate when people have to be sooooo negative. I just hope it is a good movie, I have no expectations. I just hope my husband doesn't hate it and look at me like I am crazy because all I have been doing for the past few days is reading these books. LOL

Today

I must find some time today.
Cleaning my house, Mom is coming over. People coming to look at furniture for sale. Make food for Board meeting tonight and of course actual meeting.
But I did fine time to run to Target this morning after I dropped of Em at school. Drove 20mins to buy Eclipse!! Living in the 'country' I have no stores in town besides CVS, Rite Aid and Stop and Shop. I'm sure I will be running to Target again this week for the Breaking Dawn. Then I can finally read April's post!! :)

He calls it an obsession.....

For the past 2 1/2 days all that I talk about is Twilight and New Moon. I had a nice time Saturday relaxing and finally finishing Twilight and I loved it. We had a birthday party Sunday and all I could think about was starting New Moon. When we got home I read a few chapters, knowing what I know now I am glad it was just a few chapters. Monday while Emily was in school I decided to get into New Moon. For those of you who have read it....I was angry and crying.....like a teen aged girl. I read most of it and plan to finish it today. I really like these books and I feel a bit sad that I am almost finished with the first two. I need to buy the third today, I think. My husband thinks I am obsessed....lol....I told him I wasn't doing any laundry or dishes yesterday because I had a date with a vampire, but reassured him that his girlfriend would be there too. He thinks I am crazy!! can't wait to see the movie, I hope it is ok. I have already noticed a few differences in the trailers from the books.....I just hope it isn't too different.

busy, busy, busy

This week was crazy. We did so much around the house. I can't believe that I didn't post once, UGH!! I lost 1.4lbs this week. I am glad I lost but was hoping for a little more. Losing is losing I have to tell myself.

I am also trying to find the time to finish Twilight. I am in the middle of the book and I want to see the movie so badly. Today is rainy and dark maybe I can finish today since the house is clean and we did so much during the week. I can't believe that this book makes me smile. Like when Edward just showed up at her house to bring her to school or to walk her to class, I felt like I was in high school and a boy liked me. LOL!!! (tried not to talk too much about the book since everyone hasn't read it)

Hope everyone has a great weekend...........

Furry Babies

Meet my furry babies. Sebastian aka "bubba", he is the big boy on the right and my baby girl Willow aka "Winky", "Winky Woo", "Willy" or "Willy Wonka" she is the pretty girl on the left. They love each other and aren't they cute cuddling. My Sebastian can be a meany, he is a big teddy bear to me, but has been known to scare a grown man and attack a dog. He's swatted at Emily a few times to just let her know who's boss. He even scared the bejesus out of Chele once (they have reconciled, LOL) but he sure loves his Willow. I sure love them! I miss my Barkley this December 20th will be 2yrs since he left us. He was my middle baby and a true middle child. Oh shucks I gotta show you him too!!
Here he is....during his healthy days....Just before he passed away, he was getting better and fatter....but it didn't last :(

Here is on the skinny side (he had diabetes) sleeping in Emily's high chair. So cute!H

He even loved a good Willow cuddle, here they are in Emily's room. He was such a good boy!! We miss ya Barkley!!!! aka "Bark a boo" or "Monkey"

Barbeque Chicken and Black Bean Pizza

I made this for dinner tonight. Yummy! Jim found it in the WW web site's recipes. I should have taken a picture, but I was hungry...LOL
9pts per slice

Ingredients:

1/2 pound(s) uncooked boneless, skinless chicken breast, cubed
1/2 cup(s) barbecue sauce
16 oz pizza crust, pre-baked
1 1/2 cup(s) shredded reduced-fat Mexican-style cheese
7 1/2 oz canned black beans, drained and rinsed (half a 15 oz can)
1 small onion(s), red, finely chopped
1 tbsp cilantro, chopped

Directions:

Place rack in center of oven. Preheat to 450ºF.
Spray a nonstick skillet and stir-fry chicken over medium-high heat, about 10 minutes. Transfer chicken to medium-size bowl and toss with half barbecue sauce.
Place pizza crust on a baking sheet. Sprinkle with 3/4 cup cheese. Arrange chicken and black beans over crust; sprinkle with onion and cilantro. Drizzle with remaining barbecue sauce; add remaining 3/4 cup cheese.
Bake 10 minutes or until cheese bubbles. Cut into 6 large slices and serve immediately.

WW food ideas

Hello, I need help!

Do any of you have some great weight watchers ideas or recipes. When I count my points I tend to eat the same foods. I need some variety and some recipes. The other night we had chicken breast ,frozen & breaded 6pts not bad for a quick meal. With the chicken I loaded up on veggies, Jim gave me a weird look. I thought why not a cup of green beans no points. So I need snack ideas, meal ideas.....HELP PLEASE!! I hate to try recipes off of ww website and not like them, which ones have you tried and loved?????

Beautiful Day!!

Could today be more beautiful? Emily slept in, we had a quick meeting at our local cafe and walked over to our fire house to vote. They had two lines a-l and m-z...I live on a k street so I went into that line.....the SHORT line. The m-z line was out the door, a-l no one was in line. I like the new way to vote, I used to get all panicky thinking "now how does this booth work?".

On the school front, we hired a new teacher's aide. I think she is great! I think this is a very good thing!!!

On the dieting front. The Halloween candy is killing me. I am not a huge chocolate eater, but for some reason they are calling my name. Last night I had a bag of peanut m&m's. This morning I felt guilty because I REALLY want to lose weight this time around. I want to be me again, I feel like I am me trapped in someone else's shell. It's amazing what 30lbs could do to someone. I was overweight when I had Emily, although I was uncomfortable I still felt like me. After I stopped nursing I packed on an extra 30lbs (+ sometimes) and I felt SO NOT ME!! Well because of the guilt I stepped on the scale this morning-which I usually don't do my first week dieting- I lost 2lbs YAY!! I am so excited!! add that to my already lost 6lbs and woohoo 8lbs that is freaking awesome!! I feel like I have to incentive to not eat the candy now!!

Keri- YES YES YES I am sooooo up for walks in the spring!! and "Country" play dates!! We can check out each other's towns.

Monday, November 3, 2008

Happy Monday! UGH.... I hate Mondays. I used to always think that Mondays stunk because I had to get up and go to work. Nope. Even when you work, Mondays stink!!

I started WW again Saturday, I am looking forward to weighing and seeing if I was successful. I already lost about 6lbs since we moved. So if I can lose a decent amount I may see a different "2nd" number if you catch my drift. That would be lovely!

I also started charting my temp last Monday. I have been talking to another bloggy friend about her charts and decided I am not getting any younger. I need to try for another baby. If I do not, I will regret it. Jim and I are both on board. I want to lose 30lbs first.

Now talking about WW, why is it that all you think about all day is food. Some days I can go all day and forget to eat. When I am on WW I am hungry from the moment I get up. All this Halloween candy doesn't help either!!!

Here are some Halloween pics. The weather being so cold I convinced Em to wear her dress up Cinderella dress, she agreed. But the weather here was beautiful for trick or treating! I hope everyone had a nice Halloween!
Here is Emily in her Cinderella wig, She refused to wear it. Thankfully I got at least on picture of her in it. So funny. Although when she made Daddy try it on, well now that was FUNNY!!!

Here she is ready for school. They don't wear their costumes to school. They do, however, dress as princesses and knights. The teachers don't want any of the kids to frighten the other with scary outfits. You'd think with pre-schoolers you wouldn't have to worry about that. But you do!! Don't you love the poofy princess hair-lol.

And here are our Jack O' lanterns. The littel pumpkin Emily grew at my Grandfather's house. She loved scribbling the faces on the pumpkins while Mommy tried to make it look like what she drew...They came out cute I think!! (oh and excuse the leftover streamers from LAST tuesday for Jim's bday)

Happy Halloween

Wednesday, October 29, 2008

Good Morning!
I need to vent! As most of you know I am one of 2 Co-Directors at my daughter's preschool. The job isn't hard, at times it can be stressful. The part that really sucks lately is the gossip or chit chat. Everyone has something to say, especially previous/current board members. Ideas are welcome, that is why there is a board. But these people had their opportunity to become a Co-Director and they didn't take it. I did. It's beginning to get to me, I am thinking that maybe emotionally this isn't a good week for me, LOL. I miss just going into the school and talking with the other mom's. I have had other jobs where I was in charge, but this is ridiculous. I just want to say stop talking about people. I hear a lot about the other Co-Director and I wonder do people say stuff about me too. I used to get frustrated about the other CD but now I feel bad because it isn't fair. She is and I am doing the best we can do. It's just so frustrating and so small town!! UGH!!

I am truley living in the country.....

I see snow!!

The part of Connecticut where I moved is often referred to as the "Litchfield Hills". It gets colder here and when it snows it SNOWS!!

Well today it has been one of those days rainy, wet and windy. I was just at my sink washing some dishes and what do I see? No more rain. I see snow!!

Emily is very excited, but wants to know where the big piles are,LOL.

I always love the first snowfall, of course this one won't amount to anything. But it is really pretty!!

Happy Birthday Honey!!

I love you, with all my heart!!

oxoxo

Blog list

Sometimes blogging brings me back to high school. Reading the comments other bloggers leave on my blog makes me feel "oh, they like me. They keep coming back". What makes me feel even better is when I see my blog in their blog list. I feel like "yay, they like me that much!!". But what if someone removes your blog from their list? Did they remodel and just forget you. Are you not bloggy friends anymore? It's crazy how a list on someones blog somehow makes you feel important. Since my move I haven't been blogging or commenting as much as I did before. I feel like I am losing my blogging friends. I go to my reader and see whats going on with you but sometimes don't have a minute to comment, for that I am sorry. I am really trying to get back in the swing of things, I miss it.

Have to share

I am browsing the ToysRus website and see this...I bought this for Emily's birthday last year. It is an awesome toy. It now only costs $10, I paid $30. She loves it and plays with it a lot. It is great if your kids like the computer, she can go to the safe sites and play without shutting my computer off or getting into files. Check it out!!

THANK YOU!!

I just want to say thanks to everyone who shared their opinions, experiences or knowledge with me regarding booster seats. Everyone I know has a seat belt only booster and I was thinking to myself, am I over thinking this?? I didn't want to shell out $280 for a booster if I didn't need to. But I also didn't want to buy one for $50 just because of the price. Robyn and Tabitha thank you for the stories you shared-you made my decision an easy one. I did some research and read on the Britax website that Emily still has some time before she grows out of her Britax Marathon seat. She can use it up to 65 lbs and seated shoulder height 16 inches. She isn't quite 39 lbs and seated shoulder height is only 13 1/2 inches. I have decided to save and get the Frontier by Britax, it is pricey but personally I will feel that she is safest in that seat. It will be her last seat and she can use it harnessed to 80 lbs and up to 53" tall or 18.25 in seated should height and after that she can use it with a seat belt up to 100 lbs and up to 60" tall or 21.5 inches seated shoulder height. But most importantly she will be anchored to the car. We have time to save for it & IF we ever have another child they can use it. Thank you Moms and non Moms!!!!!

Calling all Mom's

I have a dilemma...
When I was looking for a car seat for Emily I read all the articles, all the websites, talked to all my Mommy friends. I chose the Britax marathon. It was more expensive than the others but I decided this was best for my baby. My MIL paid half, so it wasn't too bad for us.
Now Emily is outgrowing her car seat and just about ready for her booster seat. Everyone I know has the Graco Turbo booster or something like that. It uses just the car's seat belt. But I wonder if I need or should get the high back booster that has the 5 pt harness and then when she is a bit older it can also use the car's seat belt. I can't seem to find anything specifically discussing the pros and cons to this issue. Britax also makes various booster seats but they are $270+ that's alot of money. Can anyone help? What did you get? Know of any sites with good info? Help!!

5pt harness booster OR car seat belt booster????

Once again...

I will be joining weight watchers!! I need to do it. I have lost about 5lbs since moving here, but nothing else. So now that it isn't hot anymore I plan on taking advantage of the foliage and walking. My hubby is also gonna watch his pts, don't tell him I told you...oops!! Wish me luck, I am hoping to lose a nice amount as a gift to myself for Christmas! My first goal will be to lose 30-ish, I want to try and have another baby. I am not getting any younger and I am already considered old in the baby making range. But if I never tried, I think I would regret it. Having Em was not easy, being pregnant was a breeze but getting pregnant isn't so easy for me. I am going to weigh in tomorrow morning (doing it online-cheaper) so I may be crabby this time next week!!

Oh and here are a few pics that have been in my camera forever!!

Here are my deer friends who come in my yard a couple times a day.

Some Mums from Emily's school fundraiser.

Emily's first day of school.

Emily finally having a place to ride her bike outside ,in her own yard!!
