Happy New Year!!

Saturday, December 27, 2008

I Hope everyone had a great holiday. We had a nice one ourselves. Christmas eve with my family and Christmas day with Jim's. Yesterday and today I have done nothing. It feels good to not stress about shopping and presents. My living room looks like Santa's bag exploded and I am trying to pick up a little here and there. We got the coolest pancake pan...check it out.....

Emily's favorite food is now the cutest food!!

What are you traditions?

Stockings or gifts first?

Anything specific that needs to be in the stocking?

Merry Christmas Bloggers!!

This time of year has made me a bit batty!!

But I am done shopping and don't even have to make a run to the grocery store. I am in for the night and don't have to leave until tomorrow as I head to my Mom's. I still have a few presents to wrap and some Santa stuff to do. But I have piles a gifts separated for the various places we will be heading to over the next few days. We've had a ton of snow and it looks beautiful outside. It looks like a perfect Christmas!

I want to wish you all a WONDERFUL Holiday!! I hope Santa is extra good to you all!!!
Enjoy your families this year!!!

Cable guy

This morning the schools had a 2 hr delay, which means Emily had school at 10am. I was also expecting a service tech from our Satellite TV provider. He was scheduled to be here between 8am & Noon. I hate waiting and I hate having to leave during my window-what if he comes when I leave. I live in a small town so I can get to her school and back in like 15 mins. The Tech called at 9am and said he was on his way and should be there for 9:30am. At 9:45am I had to leave, I decided to check the caller id and call him and tell him I was leaving the house and he could wait for me.....and that I would be home between 10am and 10:15am. He said OK. Ahhh freedom. I always feel like I can't do what I want when we schedule a service call, and this company takes 2 wks to get someone out here. He was nice and fixed the original tech's mistake and I now can use my DVR to it full potential, making my husband very happy. We can tape a show and watch another. No more fights or lonely nights in separate rooms watching our favorite shows. Now this is where things got weird...I made coffee and offered him some. He accepted and we started chatting while drinking our coffee. My husband called to check on me and I told him I was having coffee with the cable guy....he asked me if I was going to hug him when he left....I said no silly we just met.

It has been a crazy week.

Thank you all for your kind words.

Emily and I took a trip to Natick, MA to visit my Sister-in-law and visit the new American Girl Doll store. Emily had so much fun and wanted to buy everything. We couldn't eat lunch at the store, my Sister-in-law and I are still trying to figure out that one-they said they were booked all day with reservations and weren't taking walk ins and there were tables EMPTY????? We had lunch at Cheesecake Factory instead and headed back to the American Doll Store for dessert which we finally got a table-because the employees were so confused they just let us sit for dessert...YAY us!!! Here are a few pics, it was so cute, Em brought her Bitty Baby Lucy (short for Lucifer-LOL a story for another day) and she was able to sit at the table with us in her own booster and got her own menu and the man brought over her menu and actually said as he put it in front of the doll...... "here you go miss" it was so cool!!!!

Sad day today........

I just received some bad news. My Aunt Nancy aka Sass passed away. She was also Chele's aunt. (Chele's dad and my Mom are brother and Sister- Sass was their Sister) Sass had diabetes and has been in and out of the hospital for years. She also had kidney disease because of the diabetes and has been working on getting on a transplant list for years. The diabetes made this a difficult journey always pulling her two steps back. She recently found out she most likely would not be put on the list because of her heart, blockages that couldn't be cleared. She has had several heart attacks and was just hospitalized a few weeks back for one. Last week she was admitted again to the hospital due to some more blockages. This morning she went into cardiac arrest and passed away. We just celebrated her 50th birthday this summer. We are all in shock. We knew she was really ill but she always got well enough to leave the hospital.

We'll miss ya Sass....Here is a pic of here with Chele. This is the only one I could find . This was the Christmas of 2006. Just a few months later our Grandmother passed away. I know that Sass and her Mom are together now.

just cuz

Yesterday, when I posted about wrapping presents. It was because I was wrapping all alone while Em & Jim did whatever. Its kinda funny (well not that funny) it is the women who wrap the presents and even those of us who would like some help would probably kick them out after the first fold. Do you think they just can't wrap or do they do it messy on purpose so we do it all. Ya know when the guys complain (especially to us sahm) how hard their lives are- do they think of these times where Christmas in our house wouldn't happen if it weren't for me. Or the laundry, my hubby will complain when he does dishes but do I ever say when is the last time you did some towels or washed Emily's clothes? He does do his own laundry. I am thankful for that. But seriously mom's/wives rule!!! LOL I do love my husband, especially today he started a new job and it happy!! yay me!

Who wraps the presents in your house??

I think (at least for me) that wrapping presents should have been part of our wedding ceremony "I promise to wrap all the presents" because I can't remember the last time Jim wrapped a present. So today I am wrapping whatever I have purchased so I am not wrapping a gazillion things right before Christmas. Ya know now that I am complaining a bit, I decorate too. We used to decorate together but now it me and the kid...... Hmmmm a feel a new tradition coming.

Emily had both of her parties, she had so much fun. It was nice to have it at our house for a change. She also had her first kid birthday party and it was a smash! She had so much fun. I am so glad the Heather & Keri and their children were able to come. I hope they had fun.
Here she is officially 4yrs old.

And the cake, I decided to make it this year. She was just as happy to have pink frosting and pastel sprinkles.

On the health front. Em is still fighting the cold. Of course this week was so busy...she'd get a bit better and then she'd have some fun and the cold starts creeping back in. I am doing ok, I just have this weird throat thing, feels swollen more than sore. So annoying but I am surviving.

Saving the best for last. We had our first snowfall to stay. We've had MANY flurries, but last night there was a nice covering of snow. When Emily woke up I showed her and she said "It's Christmas!" with a big grin. Its been snowing on and off all morning its pretty. I love this time of year and its nice to see the snow in my yard and not just in my driveway

Emily had her check up today.
The vaccinations had to be post poned because she woke up with a 103.3 fever last night.
Learned today that she has enlarged adenoids (thanks Daddy's family) but because they aren't a problem for her, they can stay.
Also she failed her hearing test in her left ear because of wax build up (again thanks daddy's family) she had so much build up she failed. I couldn't believe it. Once it was irrigated, she passed no problem. She has always had issues with wax since she was a baby. Poor thing. Now I have to irrigate daily. Hmmmm is that why she doesn't listen, if it were that simple.
Two weeks and we have to go back for vaccinations and flu shot.
I woke up with a scratchy throat.
Tried to get Em to take a nap and took one myself.
Woke up with a HUGE sore throat.
Fun is.
