I'm back!!

Hi People, I am back. I feel like I have been gone forever, so many blogs to catch up on. My computer died last week although it feels like longer. My hard drive is toast, I have all my photos on there and found out it will cost like $600 to "maybe" retrieve them-no guarantees. I will have to wait on that because we also had to buy a new computer. UGH. Seriously how many more things can die/break on me this year. Both cars and my computer?? Seriously I give up. Luckily I forgot I had some pictures on snapfish, shutterfly etc. So not all is lost but I had TONS of pictures on my computer. My computer wasn't even 4yrs old and I hadn't backed them up yet. I've learned my lesson (I hope) and will do a backup monthly!!

How is everyone? I can't wait to check everyone out.

Welcome back! That sucks about your pix!! I have a computer geek borther, so he forces us to back up our files twice a year (very strict!)

That happened to me once, Julie. I thought I was going to be sick. Thanks to a friend who knows a computer wizard, they were all rescued. I vowed that would never happen to me again.

Let me share something with you: do a search for Picasa. It's a free photo organization tool (also has a decent photo editor) that you download to your computer. That helps you keep track of all the photos on your computer. Picasa has a great feature called "Picasa Web Albums" and you can sync Picasa on your computer with the web albums & it automatically backs them up online with the click of a button. Easy. As. Pie. Seriously, puts my mind at ease. If anything happens to my computer, my photos are safe & sound, backed up onlne. I got Heather hooked up with Picasa a while back. You can either email me if you have questions or you can ask Heather--she's a pro with it now!

Thanks Ladies!! Its good to be back.

Dawn thanks for the picasa tip. Our new anti virus/spyware program does backups too. But I like the idea of keeping my photos organized like that. Thanks!! I wish I couldn't say this-but this is the 2nd time this happened...First when she was just a yr old. That computer was OLD!! but this one wasn't-I actually just bought some external memory to back them up and boom it crashed!!

I have to tell you: I have 3 copies of my photos. One set is on my hard drive. I also copy them all to my external hard drive. And then I back them up online using Picasa/Picasa Web Albums. I figure that way, no matter what happens, I have a copy safe somewhere. Even if my actual computer spontaneously combusts & takes my backed up hard copies with it--still safe online. ;-) I swore I would never feel that way again! Thousands & thousands of photos...

I have to reiterate what Dawn said- I have the same 3-step approach (until memory stick filled, not I need and ex-y)

Glad you are back up and we'll get you going moving forward.

BTW I use Picassa ever since Dawn mentioned it to me a few years ago *LOVE IT*
